6 Super Eagles players that impressed over the weekend

Over the weekend, we have quite a number of Super Eagles players who were in action and starred for their various clubs ahead of the International break.

1, Victor Moses (Chelsea)

The Super Eagles star featured for the full 120 minutes for the London Blues when they visited the King Power Stadium for the Emirates FA Cup quarterfinal tie with Leicester City.

Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata scored his first goal in 2018 to express the visitor’s intent but Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy leveled up in the 2nd half.

However, Spanish playmaker Pedro scored in the extra time to confirm Chelsea’s place in the last 4. You will recall, Victor Moses featured in last year’s finals against Arsenal. Manchester United now stand in the way of Moses and his Chelsea teammates in their bid to reach another Cup final in2 years.

2, Wilfred Ndidi [Leicester City]

The 21-year-old was impressive in Leicester Emirates FA Cup outing yesterday. Wilfred probably was the best Leicester player on the field yesterday. He rose to the challenge pretty well and did well against the likes of Kante and Bakayoko and made as many as 10 tackles in the game.

3, Kelechi Iheanacho

The former Golden Eaglet star played for 68 Minutes in Leicester lose to Chelsea in the Emirates FA Cup yesterday at the King Power Stadium.

Kelechi who already have 4 goals in the FA Cup had a quiet game yesterday and couldn’t produce much threat as he is known for. It’s unfortunate he won’t add to his goal tally as Leicester failed to progress to the semi-final

4, John Obi Mikel (Tianjin Teda)

Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel helped his side to a 3-2 victory against Tianjin Quanjian this weekend in the Chinese Super League. Mikel got his name in the assist sheet in the 84th minute. Frank Acheampong scored a hat trick to push Teda to 8th on the log and hand Tianjin Teda their first win of the season.

5, Odion Igbalo (Changchun Yatai)

The Super Eagles forward yesterday rescued his club Changchun Yatai their second defeat as he scored to level up in their 1-1 draw against Beijing Renhe in the Chinese Super League encounter at Development Area Stadium.

It was Ighalo’s first goal of the season. the forward continued with the impressive form with a goal against the newly-promoted side in his third outing for the club this term to help Chen Jingang’s side secure their second point in the division.

6, John Ogu  (Hapoel Be’er Sheva)

John Ogu netted the winner in Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s 1-0 win against Bnei Yehuda in the first game of the Ligat Ha’al championship playoff on Sunday.

Ogu scored in the 31st minute to settle the tie, and he’s tied in the top six goalscorers in the play-off.

The Super Eagles midfielder expressed his delight on Twitter as Hapoel keep a steady chase for their third consecutive league title.

With the win, Hapoel Be’er Sheva still maintain their pole position on the table
