AfroCan: DR Congo takes Nigeria to the cleaners

Nigeria put up an uninspiring performance and lost a second successive group game at the AfroCan on Sunday by a massive 26 points in a 81-55 defeat to DR Congo.

The defeat follows Saturday’s slump to Kenya and they Coach Chris Ogoh’s side will finish group B as the bottom team.

But the D’Tigers can still progress to the quarter-finals, through the qualification phase, but will face the second placed team in group A.

The 2019 AfroCan is the first edition of the competition for players evolving on the African continent.

In its format, this competition will give players plying their trade on the African continent the opportunity to showcase their talents, according to FIBA.

The next edition of this competition is due to take place in 2021.
