Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi says he’s delighted and proud to be named CAF Champions League player of the week.
Ajayi was named as the most outstanding player in the competition following his impressive performance for his club Al Ahly against Al Mereikh of Sudan, last week.
The Super Eagles striker recorded an assist as the holders defeated Sudanese giants 3-0 in their first group phase game played at Caira international stadium.
“AlAhly’s Juinor Ajayi is the #TotalCAFCL Player of the Week for his stunning performance against Al Merreikh! “, CAF wrote on their Twitter page.
In his reply tweet, Ajayi said: “I really appreciate all fans and supporters that voted me as #TotalCAFCL Player of the week. Thank you all for this honour. Up @alahly 😎”
Ajayi who scored the decisive penalty to help Al Ahly finish third in just concluded FIFA World Club Club is expected to be in action again on Tuesday when they take on Simba SC of Tanzania in the second group game.
