Akwa United settle for a Point Against Wolves in Warri

Akwa United held Warri Wolves to a goalless draw on Monday in the last NPFL match of the week.

Kennedy Boboye made just one change to the starting eleven that defeated Rivers United last time out with Ubong Essien replacing injured Mfon Udoh.

 

The game witnesses few clear cut chances, but Wolves had their goalkeeper Pwadadi Bulus to thank for pulling off a great saves when he was called upon.

 

Akwa United managed to create the best chance of the first half in the 17th minute, when Ndifreke Effiong’s volley flew over the top after a fine sequence of play by the visitors.

 

In the second half, former Warri Wolves player, Charles Atshimene drew a good save from Bulus after hitting the target from David Philip’s cross.

 

Akwa United should snatched a  winner in added time after Dare Ojo located Ubong Friday with a diagonal ball, the winger did well to beat his maker and played it to Seth Mayi but the midfielder’s final effort was saved by Bulus.

 

There was no further clear chances later in the game as both teams settled for a point each at Ozoro stadium.

 

The point means that Akwa United move to fifth place on the log with 23 points, while Warri Wolves remain in the drop zone, in 18th place with 14 points.
