Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s decision to rest some top stars for their 4th round FA cup clash with Portsmouth proved to be the right one, as the Gunners booked their place in the next round with an emphatic win.
Saka started the games at the left-back position for Arteta side’s once more, as the Gunners boss named six players aged 20 or under for the game.
The Sokratis Papastathopoulos’ volley and Eddie Nketiah’s close-range finish ensured the Gunners bounced back from their shock Europa League exit last weekend.
An elated Arteta told the media after the game that he is enjoying his work with the youngsters and he hopes to see them develop to important players for the Gunners in the future.
“I’m really pleased with them [the youngsters],” Arteta told BBC Sport. “I’m enjoying working with the players. They deserve a chance. It’s always a risk but they’re worth the risk.” The former Manchester City coach said.
