Babayaro agrees with CAF over Ndidi snub

Former Super Eagles defender Celestine Babayaro has voiced his opinion on the omission of Nigeria players from the recent CAF’s Africa best 11 players saying Wilfred Ndidi doesn’t deserve a place on the list.

After being listed in Africa’s best eleven by French football magazine last week, Wilfred Ndidi was tipped to be in pole position for another place in the continent best selected players but the former Gent of Belgium man was snubbed by the African football Governing Body in the midfield of three which includes Naby Keita (Guinea and Liverpool), Riyard Mahrez (Algeria and Manchester City) and Thomas Partey (Ghana) selected in Darkar on Tuesday.

However many fans and pundits believes the decision to leave out the Leicester man was strange but Babayaro is of the opinion that Ndidi inability to play in the UEFA Champions League or Europe league counted against him.

Babayaro said: “Ndidi didn’t do badly to be honest, but in 2018 Partey and Keita did more.

“(That was) mainly due to their involvement in the Champions League and Europa League, something Ndidi didn’t have with Leicester.”
