Bala Nikyu targets another derby win against Plateau United

Nasarawa United head coach Bala Nikyu is happy to overcome the agony of last weekend’s defeat to Dakkada FC in Benin City with a 2-1 victory over next door-neighbours, Lobi Stars.

The Solid Miners secured fought back from behind to secure the victory in the North Central derby match played at the Lafia City Stadium.

The away side drew the first blood through Anayo Ogbonna as early as in the 3rd minute but Solid Miners found a way through in the 24th minute as Chris Madaki debutant Uche Ihuarulam, nod home for United’s opener.

Nasarawa United got the winner in the second half, after Ameh Godwin failed to clear a corner kick courtesy of Adams Olamilekan and allowed the ball fell onto the direction of Onyeka Onyebuchi who slotted home from close range.

Reacting to the result, Coach Bala Nikyu said : “It was a difficult but great game at the end of regulation time.

“Before the league started, rumours had it that Lobi didn’t have a good team, but from what they played today, I think they are a good team because any team that is determined to play, you don’t count on how good it is but the effort put in.

“I am a professional coach and whenever I change a player, it’s on the basis of my professional analysis, not sentiments.

“Our next game against Plateau United in Jos, I don’t mind about the status of the game. We will go there and play football, and we are equal to whatever will be the outcome.” He said.
