CAF confirms Ivory Coast as 2023 AFCON Host

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has announced when the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations final draw will take place while confirming that Ivory Coast has accepted to host the 2023 continental showpiece.

The new agreement of Ivory Coast allows Cameroon, who were stripped of the right to stage this year’s event, to host the 2021 edition.

Ivory Coast had initially resisted the two-year delay, going as far as filing a case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

However upon an emergency meeting with President Alassane Ouattara met Caf President Ahmad this week, a deal has been sealed.

Guinea, who had been slated for 2023, will put on the 2025 tournament.

CAF have also confirmed that the draw for this years’ continental showpiece hosted by Egypt will take place on Friday 12 April within a historic place ‘facing the Sphinx and the Pyramids’.

In its new 24-team format, the tournament will be held from June 21 to July 13 this year.
