Tottenham Hotspur inflicted Chelsea’s first Premier League defeat of the season and moved above their London rivals with an emphatic 3-0 win at Wembley.
Dele Alli opened the scoring with a pacy glancing header from Christian Eriksen’s free-kick. Chelsea then had a strong penalty claim turned down, and seconds later the game was effectively over.
Harry Kane doubled the lead with a strange 25-yarder that Chelsea defender David Luiz turned away from, simultaneously letting the ball through and unsighting goalkeeper Kepa Arrizablaga.
With Chelsea at sea defensively, it should have been three well before Son Heung-Min slalomed through and found the bottom corner in the second half.
Kane and Alli missed sitters as Spurs strove to humiliate Maurizio Sarri’s men, for whom Olivier Giroud grabbed a late goal.
