Defender William Troost-Ekong admits the Super Eagles would miss the device of Leon Balogun in Cameroon, but insists others players can step in his absence.
Ekong and Balogun formed the famous Super Eagles ‘Oyinbo wall’, but the Watford defender will have to carry on without his partner.
Balogun was ruled out of the African Cup of Nations, due to injury and has been replaced by West Bromwich Albion defender Semi Ajayi.
Speaking in Tuesday’s press conference, The 27-year-old said, Super Eagles is blessed with quality players who can deliver for the Country.
“We will miss Balogun, last AFCON I paired with Kenneth. Awaziem is doing fine. Starting shirt doesn’t belong to anyone. We will have good competition among the players,” he said.
Ekong played a big role as Nigeria finished third in the 2019 edition in Egypt and scored the winning goal against Bafana Bafana of South Africa in quarter-final.
