Daniel Akpeyi suffered his first defeat between the sticks for Kaizer Chiefs on the final day of the 2018/19 PSL season, a defeat away to his former employers Chippa United.
It was Akpeyi’s first return to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium since his move, he is Cup-tied and was not listed for the semi-final clash in the NedBank Cup.
The Nigeria International who made six appearances for the Chiefs since joining in January was picked ahead of 23 year-old Bruce Bvuma for the last game of the season.
Prior to the fixture Akpeyi had failed to keep a clean sheet, yet has also never lost a PSL match.
He conceded six goals in his previous five outings for the club, including a roller coaster 3-2 win against Highlands Park.
In total he managed one win, four draws and loss between the sticks for Ernst Middendorp’s men, who failed to finish in the top 8.
