Dosu says it’ll be a disaster if U23 Eagles fail to qualify for 2020 Olympics

Former Nigeria Olympic gold-medalist, Dosu Joseph says the level of competition at the 2019 edition of the U23 AFCON is tough as every team wants to qualify for the summer games and believes the players hold the key to their qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games after losing their opening group game against Cote D’Ivoire.

Dosu Joseph told brila.net that the players have to motivate themselves heading into the Zambia match tomorrow.

“Though there will be tension in the second game against Zambia U-23 tomorrow, THE BOYS NEED TO BRING THEMSELVES BACK, THE COACHES AND FANS ARE THERE TO ENCOURAGE THEM BUT THE PLAYER NEED TO TALK TO THEMSELVES AND REACH THE GOAL OF QUALIFYING FOR THE OLYMPICS, football in Africa have improved a lot and we have to put aside the giant of Africa tag and focus on playing the game.”

However, the former Nigerian goalie praised the quality of players in the national team but stressed the importance of the game tomorrow “I hope the players will win their second game as It will be a disaster if we do not qualify for the Olympics after winning Gold, Silver and Bronze in previous Olympics.”
