Coach Austin Eguavoen has explained how he managed to motivate the Super Eagles to produce their best performance in recent years.
Eguaveon led Nigeria to a 1-0 win over Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations Group D opener on Tuesday.
It was his first official game in charge of the team, since replacing Gernot Rohr who was dismissed last December, due to poor performances in the qualifiers.
When asked, how he managed the team back to top level, Eguaveon said:
“The same set of players, every coach have their style, philosophy and leadership. ” He said at the post conference, immediately after the game.
“I told the players to see me as their brother and father, my assistants. I called them my colleagues.“
“We have a path towards the same direction, we have the privilege to serve the country and we must always give our best.” he said.
