Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed they have signed Timothy Weah, son of African legend George Weah, to his first professional contract.
The Parisien side made the announcement on Monday with Weah signing a deal till 2022.
Timothy Weah, 17, was born in the United States and joined PSG in 2014.
A statement on the club’s website reads: “Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the signature of Timothy Weah’s first professional contract. The striker is tied to the club of the capital until 30 June 2020.”
‘He arrived Paris Saint-Germain in July 2014. Timothy Weah shone in Youth League last season. In his first game, the young striker scored a hat-trick against Bulgarian Ludogorets (1-8) in Sofia.
‘During this European campaign, Timothy Weah took part in four meetings in total.’
Speaking after he penning the deal, the Striker said,”I am very proud to continue the adventure at Paris Saint-Germain by signing this professional contract.”
“I am in a big club and I look forward to continuing to progress so that one day I can apply for the first team.”
George Weah played for PSG between 1992-95, but moved to Italy with AC Milan where he won the FIFA World Footballer of the Year.
