Director-General of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria under the Ibrahim Gusau led board of the AFN Pepple Young has stated that the Federation which has been recognized all the while by World Athletics and the Confederation of Africa Athletics will not stand in the way of Nigeria’s Spots Ministry spearheading the hosting and staging of the 21st Africa Athletics Championship.
Young speaking in a chat with brila.net said any attempt to do that will be rubbing Nigeria the chance to have a competition that will be beneficial to athletes. How however stressed that he is sure the Confederation of Africa Athletics knows the right board to deal with and will leave such a decision on the doorstep of the Confederation of Africa Athletics.
NB – Nigeria’s minister of Youths and Sports Hon. Sunday Dare met with the Confederation of Africa Athletics President Kalkaba Maboum on Monday in Cairo to discuss modalities on Nigeria’s hosting of the Africa Athletics Championship in Lagos by June 23-27.
