Iheanacho MIA as Jamie Vardy ends Leicester’s 27 games winless run at Arsenal

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was left on the bench for the entire duration of Leicester City’s victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

 

Iheanacho who started two previous matches for the Foxes was dropped to the bench in favor of first choice striker Jamie Vardy after passing a late fitness test.

 

Vardy scored the only goal of the game late in the second half of half to hand the Brenda Rodgers’ side their first league win at Arsenal in 47 years.

 

The Foxes’ last win at Arsenal, is dated back to September 1973 and ending a run of 27 games without an away victory against them in all competitions.

 

Talisman, Jamie Vardy also took his tally to 11 goals in 12 Premier League matches against Arsenal, with only Wayne Rooney (12) scoring more against the Gunners in the competition.

 

Vardy is now also the highest-scoring away player at the Emirates in top-flight ties (5 goals).

 

Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka also featured for Arsenal, but he was substituted in the second half after picking up a knock.
