Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed he is not under pressure to step into the shoes of Leicester City’s number one striker Jamie Vardy.
While Jamie Vardy was absent in Thursday’s Europa League win over Zorya due to a calf problem, Iheanacho was handed the opportunity to lead the attack by coach Brendan Rodgers.
Iheanacho did live up to the expectations by assisting the first two goals, before scoring the third himself as the Foxes began their European campaign in style.
As the team gets ready to take on Arsenal in their next fixtures, Iheanacho is in line to lead the attack again with Vardy still struggling for fitness.
“To be fair, there’s no pressure on my side,” he said. “Of course, Jamie is a top striker, everyone knows, and we miss him in the team, but if he’s not there, I’ve got the responsibility, so I just need to be calm and help my team and get the results that we need.” Iheanacho said.
Iheanacho and his teammates will travel to Emirates stadium Sunday and they will be hoping to get the desired result after their shocking defeat to Aston Villa.
