Ike Shorunmu hails Eagles goalkeeepers Okoye, Uzoho and John Noble

Ex international and former goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu is impressed with the goalkeeping options in the Super Eagles at the moment.

The former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer said any of trio John Noble, Francis Uzoho, and Maduka Okoye is good enough to number one for the team.

Coach Gernot Rohr fielded Maduka Okoye in their 1-0 win over the Benin Republic in Port Novo last Saturday, but he opted for Francis Uzoho for the 3-0 success over Lesotho on Tuesday.

John Noble didn’t get an opportunity to feature in both matches, but his form for Enyimba this season is proof that he’s good enough to be in goal for the three-time African champions.

Reacting to the performance of the goalkeeper in just concluded International break, Ike Shorunmu said he’s happy with their progress and display of confidence.

“The most important thing is victory, but a clean sheet is important for the goalkeepers and we are happy with their performances.”

“Although I didn’t see much of the matches, the three goalkeepers deserved their invitations to the team and they can only get better”. He told brila.net.
