It Pains me! Kayode Olanrewaju speaks on Missing Super Eagles camp

Kayode Olanrewaju has disclosed he had a conversation with Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr over his unavailability for the national team’s Corsica camp and friendlies.

Olanrewaju was named in the initial 25-man list invited by Rohr for the May 22 camp, but the striker will miss because of club engagement and has since been replaced with Belgium based Henry Onyekuru.

The NFF media department disclosed the latest development on Thursday.

Austria Wien have three Tipico League matches left before the end of the season and can seal their Europa League with the 24-year-old leading the attack.

The Nigeria International is the club’s leading scorer this season and ‘the coaches spoke, both are Germans and are they had an understand.

‘It pains to miss this chance with the national team, but my club needs me badly.

‘We have a Europa ticket to fight for and it’s important for every player to be available and focused.’

The striker thanked the Eagles gaffer for the opportunity and vowed to return stronger for the team.

Nigeria play Corsica and Togo in international friendlies on 26 May and 1 June respectively.
