John Ogu sets UCL target after first-leg win against Honved

Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder, John Ogu is delighted with Tuesday’s second qualifying round home win in the UEFA Champions League against Honved, but is even determined to fight in the return leg.

The Nigerian duo of John Ogu and Anthony Nwakaeme helped the Ligat ha’Al champions secure a 2-1 win against Honved in the UEFA Champions League play-off match on Wednesday.

Ogu tweeted: Great to have start with a win even tho we know we are going to return leg with the thought of going to Fight.Our fans were amazing

Both Ogu and Nwakaeme played 90 minutes in Tuesday’s game.

Meanwhile, Honved fielded a Nigerian in the contest as well.

Ikenne-King Patrick started in right-back position for the visitors and also played all 90 minutes.

The first goal of the match came on 35 minutes through Hapoel Be’er Sheva defender, Vitor. He struck a powerful header off a free-kick to beat the goalkeeper.

Striker, Nwakaeme then set up Einbinder for the second goal in the 52nd minutes.

The big forward playing wide at the time, beat his marker and then dropped a cross inside the box.

Einbinder scored with a brilliant back heel leaving the goalkeeper rooted to his spot.

But 11 minutes later the visitors cut the lead to just one with a pin point cross met by a well placed header from former Juventus man, Davide Lanzafame.
