Junior Ajayi Impresses Gernot Rohr in London

If he impressed Gernot Rohr from a distance with his consistently top form at Al Ahly, Junior Ajayi is making even bigger impressions up close in the Super Eagles camp.

Ajayi missed the friendly against Poland due to visa hitches, but has hit the ground running in with the rest of the team in London in the hope of staying firmly in the Gaffer’s plans for the World Cup.

The forward earned his first senior call up since breaking into the national team scenes in 2015.

Ajayi was a member of Nigeria’a bronze medal winning team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and has since established himself at club level since leaving Shooting Stars for Tunisia, then Egypt.

He put in he work during training at the Barnet FC Stadium, impressing his coaches according to media officer, Toyin Ibitoye.

The player’s performance won him praise from the German tactician and he could be in line for selection on Tuesday against Serbia.

Similarly, on Sunday he passed through the rites of initiation with his teammates and coaches applauding his singing skills.

A video of the forward’s rendition of a Nigerian hip-hop act’s song was posted on Twitter by midfielder, John Ogu.
