Kevin Akpoguma scores in Hoffenheim’s come back win over Schalke 04

Super Eagles defender Kevin Akpoguma was among the goal scorers for Hoffenheim in their flawless win against Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Akpoguma who recently came back from injury got his first goal of the season to help Hoffenheim secure a 4- 2 comeback win over the already relegated side.

The visitors took the lead against the run of play when Suat Serdar picked out Mark Uth who then Oliver Baumann with a shot to make it 1-0.

Hoffenheim wasted two chances to equalize and was heavily punished a few minutes later as Schalke doubled their lead.

Bastian Oczipka whipped in a corner, and former Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi was there to head the ball home for his first goal in Royal Blue shirt.

Hoffenheim halved the deficit when Andrei Kramaric curled in a superb free-kick just outside the area.

Minutes later the Croatia forward turned the provider again as he sent in a corner to the head of Kevin Akpoguma who made it 2-2 for his side.

It was Akpoguma’s first Bundesliga goal the season and his 67th top-flight outing.

Hoffenheim later took the lead in a similar fashion on the hour mark, this time, Kramaric delivered a free-kick, and Baumgartner was there to power it home with his head.

Hoffenheim killed the game four minutes later, with Ihlas Bebou hitting the back of the net after a tidy exchange of passes between Sargis Adamyan and Florian Grillitsch.
