Leicester City Coach Heaps Praises On Iheanacho

Assistant manager Chris Davies has praised Kelechi Iheanacho for his impressive display in Leicester City’s 4-0 win over Luton Town in Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Iheanacho came on the pitch in the 71st minute to replace summer signing Ayoze Perez and went on to score the team’s fourth goal of the game.

The Nigerian has struggled for game time since the arrival of Brenda Rodgers and was making his first appearance for the foxes this season and only played for 19 minutes.

The former Manchester City man has fallen behind first choice Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez in the pecking order, however, before his maiden appearance of the season, many reports linked him with a move away from the Club come January.

”It is great for Kelechi because he has been outside of the squad, let alone the team, just recently but he’s been working hard in training, the manager has given him an opportunity tonight and he’s come in and he’s not been on the pitch for long but he’s made an impact,” Davies said after the game.

”He’s scored, he’s pressed the game well, he showed a good hunger, a good appetite, and it’s an instinctive finish to chip the goalkeeper.” he said.

Davies concluded that Iheanacho got the nod to play on Tuesday because of his impressive work in training.
