Fans and club officials of MFM FC are frantically trying to make sure the team’s NPFL Matchday fixture against Katsina United goes ahead.

They took to the Agege Stadium turf trying to dry up the waterlogged surface with foams and buckets.

MFM FC, who are based in Lagos play their home matches at the “Soccer Temple” of the Agege Stadium.

However, with torrential downpour across the State in the past 24 hours, the playing surface of the Stadium looks impossible to host any kind of football action – not even water polo.

It is the middle of the rainy season in the West African country and July has seen heavy rains.

Recently, the Confederation of African Football decided on switching the date of the Africa Cup of Nations from January-February to June-July from the 2019 tournament.

Significantly, the date change has been a subject of debate and stakeholders have cited the rainy season, which will be at its peak at that time of the year as a major downside.
