Mikel Obi has sent a message to Middlesbrough Manager Tony Pulis to hand him more game time after the midfielder played only 62 minutes of the side’s 1-1 FA Cup 4th round tie against Newport County.
Mikel, who joined the Riverside outfit on a short term deal, started and was very much involved as they led until he was replaced.
Speaking after the game, Mikel said, “I thought the performance was good.”
“When you play these games, we were one up, we controlled the game and it’s one of those games where if you sit back you can get caught out and that’s what happened.
“The team played really well, it’s a good start for me and hopefully we can carry on from here.
“Today was good and hopefully I can get a few more games to get sharper and help the team a bit more.”
The result at the Riverside Stadium means the sides will face-off in a replay at the Rodney Parade.
