Coach Kayode Emmanuel of Sunshine Stars says remains optimistic the club will beat the drop, despite their recent poor run of form.

Kayode Emmanuel was drafted into the squad as an interim replacement for former gaffer Gbenga Ogunbote who resigned from the position last week.

The result left the Owena Whales who are still searching for their first league win since January 2021 in the relegation zone.

In his reaction to the result, Kayode Emmanuel said, luck was against the boys, but remain optimistic about their chances of escaping relegation.

“We lost the game due to hard luck; the boys played well and this should not weigh them down. I believe we have all what its take to escape relegation and by the grace of God we will survive.” He said.

On his roles with the club, Kayode Emmanuel said: “I have not been appointed to take charge of the team as Head coach, we are only holding forth pending the time the management will make definite pronouncement on the role.”
