The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have kept mute their travel plans on the crucial World Cup qualifying duel with Nigeria.
According to a media release by the communication department of the Nigeria Football Federation, “as at Wednesday afternoon, there had been no definite word from the Cameroonians to the Nigeria Football Federation as to their arrival time or mode of transport into Nigeria”.
But Sports Village Square has exclusively gathered that the Indomitable Lions plan to fly into Uyo in a chartered flight on Friday morning and fly back to Douala immediately after the Friday evening World Cup qualifying match with the Super Eagles.
The source in Cameroon confirmed that the team opted for this for tactical reasons.
When the source in Cameroon was further prompted on a possible flight hitch as could be occasioned by weather condition, he felt the scenario was highly hypothetical.
But the source was then informed that fights were held up for a while from both landing and taking off Tuesday evening at Abuja airport owing to torrential rainfall.
It was further argued that not arriving on time might affect match arrangements especially the traditional pre match meeting where team colours and other issues are often sorted out, it was then that source agreed that the visitors’ plans could boomerang and that landing on Thursday might be a better option.
“But the team will certainly depart for home Friday night to prepare for the Monday return match.”
