Nigeria vs Egypt – Kick off time confirmed

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed that Daniel Akpeyi will be in goal as the team lineup against Egypt in a friendly game on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles had on Saturday mauled Seychelles 3-1 in their last qualification game for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

FC Midtylland of Denmark star, Paul Onuachu, will lead the team’s attack from the start of the game.

“The two goalkeepers will play tomorrow. Akpeyi will start, Ezenwa will play the second half,” Rohr said on Monday in Asaba, Delta State.

“The goalkeeping department is for the goalkeeper coach but I make the final decision.

“We are looking to the future. Uzoho made a good World Cup, he made a mistake but he is young. Competition is open.”

In addition, he noted that “Ighalo is not fit to start but he will be on the bench.

“We will have new players against Egypt. New striker, new defender. We want to see other players but we all the time want to play good football.”

Nigeria starting XI: Daniel Akpeyi, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Jamilu Collins, Shehu Abdulahi, John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo.

Egypt starting XI: Mohamed El Shenawi, Ali Gabr, Amr Warda, Ahmed Ayman Mansour, Ali Ghazal, Mohamed Hany, Karim Hafez, Amr Al Sulaya, Amar Hamdi, Ahmed Hassan Koka, Nabil Dunga.
