The German tactician signed a two-year extension to his contract and will now remain with the Eagles until well after the tournament in Russia.
Speaking after the formalities of the deal were done on Wednesday, the 64-year-old warned that the players needed to get “regular game time” at their clubs or forget about the world cup.
52 players were invited by Sunday Oliseh and Gernot Rohr throughout Nigeria’s qualifying campaign, albeit only 34 got game time.
Rohr will lead Nigeria to a sixth appearance at the tournament.
