Anthony Nwakaeme restarted the season in Turkey with a bang as he was on target in Trabzonspor’s Super Lig victory over Goztepe on Friday.
Trabzonspor won the match 3 – 1 thanks to goals from Nwakaeme, Abdülkadir Ömür and Ghanaian international Caleb Ekuban.
However, it was Super Eagles striker who opened the scoring in the 16th minute to extend his season tally of goals to 11 in 25 games.
Alpaslan Öztürk scored the only goal for the home side who remains 7th on the table, while Trabzonspor extended their lead on the log by three points ahead of second-placed Istanbul Baseksheir who still have a game in hand.
Nwakaeme became the 1st Nigerian soccer star to score a goal in the Turkish Super League since the restart of the season.
