Odion Ighalo was the hero as he led 10-man Al Shabab to victory against relegation battling Damac FC at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, Monday.
Ighalo, 31, scored twice to help Al Shabab snatch a 2 – 1 victory on the road in the Saudi Premier League.
The former Manchester United forward scored the opening goal of the game in the 12th minute from an Abdul Zaoiri assist.
A strong header from inside the 18-yard box left the Damac FC goalkeeper with no chance.
But the hosts responded, leveling up in the 20th minute through Emilio Jose Zelaya after he combined with Saleh Al Haydar.
Ighalo restored his side’s lead with another superb finish in the 39th minute, picking up a through pass inside the box and coolly beating a defender before he tucked the ball away to complete his brace.

He grabbed a third goal in the second half, but it was chalked off for offside after a VAR review.
There was some late drama, however, as Al Shabab were reduced to 10 men after Igor Lichnovsky was shown a straight red.
After a working a good shift, Ighalo now with three goals and one assist in his first five games, was substituted late on, replaced by Hassan Altabankti in additional time.
Al Shabab would have another goal disallowed after VAR ruled a foul occurred leading to the goal.
But, Al Shabab held on for the win and extended their lead at the top of the pile to five points, with 9 games left.
