Nigerian wrestling machine Odunayo Adekuoroye says the country can win gold medals at next year’s Tokyo Olympics games if the athletes have the right preparations.
The world number two and commonwealth gold medalist said this in an exclusive interview with brila.net on Monday at the adopt athletes campaign event organized by the Sports Ministry.
“I don’t think we have ever had such gathering since have been in sports, a meeting with the private sector.”
“What we lacked in the last Olympic was funding and I believe this will surely help us ahead of the upcoming Olympic and I believe we will come back with medals’. She said.
The adopt an athlete campaign is a new initiative by the Ministry of Youths and sports that will enable an individual or private organization to support Nigerian athletes with funds for major tournaments.
