Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has revealed how Kelechi Iheanacho struggled to deal with the disappointment of missing the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
Recalled, Iheanacho was omitted from the squad, due to lack of adequate game time with his club Leicester City.
However, the forward finally made his debut in this year’s edition in Cameroon and he’s currently one of the best performers for the Super Eagles.
The 25-year-old has started all Super Eagles three matches, scoring once and assisted another goals.
Reacting to his performances, Ogu explained how he disappointed he was to miss out in 2019 and expressed delight for how he has showcase himself so far.
“One person I’m most proud of is Kelechi Ihenacho. I remember the last Afcon he was dropped.”
“He was crying so hard and didn’t want to really talk to anyone. I’m so happy for him ” Ogu who was member of the team in 2019 said on Twitter.
