Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor leapt a disappointing 6.48m at the Oslo Diamond League meeting on Thursday to place seventh in the final classification.
Okagbare-Ighoteguonor failed to hit the 6.75m qualification standard in the long jump set for August’s 17th IAAF World Championships scheduled for London.
But there was a hilarious twist to the 28-year-old’s jump.
Bursting down the track, the Sprint queen had just one thing on her mind… deliver a good jump.
However, as she landed in the sand pit, her wig fell off – yes it did – and behind her to… oops!
She got a white flag, but while she busied with the wig, watching and waiting for the measurement call, the TV Commentators had a filled day about it. They were left in a state of mild delirium.
They bantered about Okagbare-Ighoteguonor’s jump and wig fall – as did twitter user @shawlerfunmi, who put up the video we picked.
The first voice said, “She lost her hair piece. Her hair piece jumped 5 meters 82, Okagbare jumped 6.21… I’ve never seen that, ever.
@shawlerfunmi : Ble Ble has killed me with laughter.
The second: And I’m sure she wishes we hadn’t seen that.
The first: This will get replayed and replayed, I’m pretty sure. But she seems not to care about it. It’s a 6.21
The Second: Ah, whatever, she’s just trying to get her hair.
Blessing Okagbare has killed me with laughter. She and the wig flew different metres. She jeje picked it back up. She cannot come & die 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/IBvWcmZdCH
