Onuachu fires blank as Genk suffers home defeat against Dynamo Zagreb

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu fired blank in Genk 0-3 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their Europa League second Group game on Thursday.

Onuachu came into the game at the back of his hat-trick against RFC Seraing over the weekend.

However, the striker couldn’t continue his hot streak as Genk suffered a disappointing and heavy defeat in front of the home fans.

Onuachu was replaced in the 75th minute by another Nigerian striker Ike Ugbo, who also didn’t make a positive impact on the game.

Mislav Orsic set up Luka Ivanusec for the first goal of the game inside the opening 10 minutes before Bruno Petkovic made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime.

Genk’s Daniel Monuz was given a straight red in 60th for a foul in the penalty box and the visitors put the game beyond their reach when Bruno Petkovic converted the spot-kick for his second goal of the match.

The victory lifts Dinamo Zagreb to the second position ahead of Genk, thanks to their superior goal difference.

Genk will attempt to bounce back when they face English side West Ham United in their next Europa League game.
