Onyekuru, Simy Nwankwo score as Eagles beat Liberia 2-1 in Monrovia

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday night defeated hosts Liberia 2-1 in an International friendly match played in Monrovia.

 

The game, played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, was arranged in honour of the country’s president and 1995 FIFA World Player of the Year, George Weah.

 

Henry Onyekuru, who is currently on Galatasaray, opened scoring for the Super Eagles, firing into the top corner to make it 1-0.

 

The John Ogu captained side extended their lead before half time, with Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo heading in Oghenekaro Etebo’s corner kick.

 

However, The lone stars pulled one goal back from the penalty spot in the second 45 minutes.
