Osho explains why he played without a striker against Akwa United

Enyimba boss Fatai Osho has explained why he played with five defenders against Akwa United last Sunday.

Enyimba slipped to 1-0 defeat in a game they needed to win in order to stay in title race.

The former Remo Stars coach started the game with five defenders, three midfielders and two wingers, while his two main strikers sat on the bench.

Explaining his decision, Osho said it was a tactical move since he already knew how Akwa United play.

“Sometimes when you are playing against a familiar foe, you know what he should expect from you and I know what to expect. We tried to look at false nine, we started using our wide players. Every time we had the ball we were not going through the center.”

Meanwhile, the game was decided by Charles Atshimene from the spot after seemed to have brought down Mfon Udoh in the box.
