Rangers Lost Narrowly To AS KARA In Lome

Enugu Rangers lost 2-1 to ASCK of Togo in the first leg of third round CAF Confederations Cup clash at the Stade de Kegue, Lome on Sunday.

An added time goal from captain of ASCK of Togo, Richard Nane condemned Rangers International F.C of Enugu to a painful first leg defeat.

Coach Benedict Ugwu started the game with front three of Chiamaka Madu, Nnamdi Egbujuo and Ifeanyi George, but they all failed to convert numerous chances that came their way.

The Togolese league champions, capilised on slack defending from Sapol Mani to open the scoring in the 30th minutes and send the very large crowd of supporters into jubilation in the process.

Rangers were handed a lifeline three minutes later, after Ikechukwu Ibenegbu located Nnamdi Egbujuo with a pass inside the box but the attacker was impeded by Togolesse defender and the referee wasted no time in awarding a penalty kick, which was converted by Ifeanyi George to make it 1-1.

However, a loss of concentration in the second minute of the four added on time, allowed Yendoutie Richard Nane to win the game for the hosts with a thunderbolt strike.

Rangers will on Sunday, November 3, 2019 host the Togolese side in the return leg inside in Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium with tickets to Group stage on the line.
