Rivers Utd’s Ubakanma calls for total commitment after defeat at Enyimba

River United’s utility midfielder Peter Ubakanma has called on his teammates to put the loss to Enyimba FC behind them and focus on the next game because they can’t afford to drop points any more if they are to close to the teams above them.

Rivers United finally lost a game in the league for the first time this season, when they were humbled by their host 2-0 at the Aba international stadium on Sunday and the defeat put an end to the four games unbeaten run of the Stanley Eguma’s side in the process.

Ubakanma who has been one of the revelations for the Pride of Rivers this season told Brila.net’s Seyi Alao that the team regretted that they failed to at least pick a point from the game, but also hailed the team for staying unbeaten for that long.

“We tried all our possible best to win or at least get a draw, but it didn’t happen, It was painful that our unbeaten record was ended and we must know that it’s not easy to avoid a defeat from home in the NPFL.

“Enyimba are a very good side too, they gave something extra on Sunday .”

Ubakanma who turns 22 on Monday added that the team can dwell on the loss for a long time as they have another game against Kwara United on Wednesday.

“With total commitment and  believe we will come out smoking in our next match on Wednesday  and I believe there won’t be any hiding place for Kwara United and start another unbeaten run.”

River United will welcome Kwara United to the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Wednesday and will be hoping to record another home win.
