Rodgers hails Iheanacho impact despite goal drought

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says Kelechi Iheanacho has worked very hard to remain in the first team since his breakthrough.

The former Manchester City forward started the season as a third choice forward behind Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez.

However with good performances in the FA cup and the Carabao Cup, the Super Eagles forced his way back into the former Liverpool manager’s plan and has featured in the league regularly.

Iheanacho has also led Leicester City’s attack in the absence of first choice Jamie Vardy and Rodgers believed he has done well for the team generally.

“He’s (Jamie Vardy) obviously struggled a little bit since mid-December with injuries and of course that has curtailed the team a little bit.” he told the media regarding to their win over Aston Villa on Monday.

“But Kelechi has done great for us, he worked very, very hard. Then Jamie coming on for the final half hour, you know his speed and threat he has.”

Meanwhile Iheanacho is experiencing a goal drought and has not scored for Leicester City January 28.
