Rohr gives Super Eagles Injury update, Reveals game plan against Algeria

Super Eagles Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr said he could makes as many as six changes to the starting line up against Algeria in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday due to injury.

Rohr insists on handing game time to several squad players against Les Verts and played down on the importance of the game.

With injuries to Mikel Agu, Victor Moses, Moses Simon, Ogenyi Onazi, Odion Ighalo and Elderson Echiejile all of whom are ruled out of the qualifier as well as a friendly against Argentina, the TA will consider handing starting berths to either Uche Agbo or John Ogu.

Kayode Olanrewaju was handed a late recall and could also be in contention to start.

According to Gernot Rohr, “We have six injuries, so it means six changes at least in this game,” he said.

“But we hope to do a good game. We play to make a good game with good result.

“It’s also an opportunity to see those players who did not play so much during the qualifiers.”

He said he expects hosts Algeria to come all out under new coach Rabah Madjer.

“They have changed coaches, they are yet to win at home (in the qualifiers), so they will be very aggressive, they have one of the best African players (Riyad) Mahrez and also (Islam) Slimani.

“It will be interesting to see how some of the players will do in in our team.”
