Rohr refuses to guarantee Eagles’ 2019 AFCON win

Coach Gernot Rohr has refused to promise that his side will deliver Nigeria‘s fourth AFCON title in Cameroon next year, but admits chances of winning the competition is brighter than that of the World Cup.

Rohr made this known while responding to questions from journalists at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba ahead of the Nigeria‘s international friendly match with Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday.

While admitting the chances of winning the competition, Rohr also noted that for the Eagles must improve to win and must have thebest of preparations before the tournament.

“I believe there is bigger chance to win the AFCON than the World Cup as Argentina, Russia and other tough countries are not available for the game,” Rohr told journalists.

“But I didn’t say we are going to win it. We only have African countries to play against at AFCON. We have young players who are willing to learn and improve. We can win with good preparations.

” We saw what the players did in South Africa when they played very well and got a draw despite playing without four key players.”

The Franco-Geman also confirmed he lost his valuables at the Aiteo Cup Final in Asaba back in September but said he won’t be kick out of the country by the immigration service.

I lost my phone and other valuables at the Aiteo Cup final in Asaba.

“I have bought another phone and I have got back some of the information on the phone. I don’t think I have any problem with the Immigration Service. They won’t push me out of Nigeria.”

The Eagles confirmed their qualifications for AFCON after a 1:1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa last weekend in Johannesburg.
