Bukayo Saka was in action for Arsenal as they secured their first win of premier league restart against ten men Southampton.
The Super Eagles hopeful played all 90 minutes and was yellow-carded in the 47th minutes of the encounter at Saint Mary on Thursday.
The youngster has now featured in 22 premier league games for Arsenal, recorded four league assists, but he’s yet to score his first league goal for the Gunners.
Meanwhile, Eddie Nkekiah and Joseph Willock grabbed the goals for Mikel Arteta, and it an end to their lost back-to-back losses to Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion.
Edward Nkekiah put Arsenal 1-0 up in the 20th minute as he took advantage of Alex McCarthy’s mistake, and rounded the ‘keeper before slotting the ball into the net.
Willock sealed the three points late on the second half as he scored from close range.
The win lifted Arsenal to ninth position on 43 points and are six points away from fifth which could be a Champions League qualification spot.
Meanwhile Super Eagles forward Isaac Success was missing in action as Burnley defeated Watford 1-0 at Turf Moor.
Jay Rodriguez scored the only goal of the game 73rd minute to hand Sean Dyche’s side needed win after their embarrassing defeat to Manchester City last week.
Success is currently struggling with injury and hasn’t featured in any of Watford’s three games so far after the league restart.
