Super Eagles to Play friendlies against Côte d’Ivoire, Tunisia in October

Nigeria Football Federation has announced that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will engage in two friendly matches next month.

The NFF president Amaju Pinnick revealed this via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, that the Super Eagles will face the Elephants of Cote’d Ivoire and Catarge Eagles of Tunisia.

He said the game against Cote D’Ivoire will be played on the 9th of October, 2020 while the one with Tunisia will come up on the 13th of October, 2020.

“On the 9th of October, the Super Eagles will play former African champions, Cote D’Ivoire in a friendly game, then face another African giant and former champions Tunisia, four days later, on the 13th. Both games will be held in Austria for a few obvious reasons.”

“Due to the COVID-19 protocols presently in place and the proximity of the bulk of our team as well, Austria was seen as an ideal venue. I’ll have to stress as well, that ALL costs will be borne by the Football Federations of both Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire, as well as Tunisia.” He said.

Both games will serve as a preparatory match for the team’s forthcoming 2022 African cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone which has been slated for November.

The doubleheader clash was initially scheduled for February 2020, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
