Everton forward Alex Iwobi promised Nigerians that the Super Eagles would be back to their best, after exiting the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Iwobi who was sent off in Nigeria’s round of 16 defeat against Tunisia on Sunday at the Omnisports Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua, insists the boys will continue to fight for the country.
The Super Eagles suffered shock elimination from the tournament, despite winning their first three matches against Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau.
Iwobi express his disappointment via a statement on this social media handle and assured Nigerians, that the team will make them smile again.
“Moments of joy can quickly turn into pain and anguish. As much as it’s a part of football, We came for more.
“Our fans who shared these moments with us both in Cameroon and across the world more, the beauty of the game is the next moment of jubilation, and it’s never too far around the corner. ”

The Everton midfielder will miss the final phase of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana, due to suspension.
