Jose Mourinho has been accused of defrauding tax authorities by Spanish prosecutors for a sum of £2.9million (€3.3m) during his time at Real Madrid.

Spanish prosecutors said on Tuesday they had filed a claim against the Manchester United manager on two counts of tax fraud dating back to when he coached Real.

The Portuguese manager owes Spanish tax authorities €3.3m, a Madrid prosecutor said in a statement, adding it had presented a claim to a local court.

  1. That Mourinho has defrauded the Spanish tax authority long before now and no body coughed about it speaks volumes .
Apart from exposing the inefficiency of the Spanish tax authority, it is also a clear confirmation that their accusation is not unconnected with Mourinho’s refusal to allow David De Gea to join Real Madrid .
