Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi on Sunday was called Zidane of African Football after his terrific display in  Middlesbrough’s 1-0away win over Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship on Sunday.

Mikel joined the Tony Pulis side in January after ending his tie with Chinese Super League side Tiajin Teda where he spent two years and helped the club to avoid relegation last season.

The Former Chelsea man has appeared thrice for Boro so far this season but it was his fourth appearance at Ewood Park that wowed the fans at the Riverside.

Mikel‘s performance in the game was rated 6.8, After winning three duels, won four long balls and had one shot blocked according to match statistics.

The performance led fans to describe him as a “Rolls-Royce of a Midfielder” and Zidane of Africa” on Twitter.
