Ivory Coast legend Salomon Kalou has tipped the Nigeria to qualify for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
The draw for the qualification round was held on Tuesday and Nigeria will face Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Sao Tome in Group A .
Nigeria had a disappointing outing in the last edition in Cameroon and also failed to qualify for the 2023 FIFA World Cup.
Despite the latest poor results, former Ivory Coast star Salomon Kalou in an interview with Super Sports tipped the Super Eagles to bounce back and qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
“I think it’s a good group [for the Super Eagles]. I think Nigeria is a team that will always qualify,” the former Forward said.
“They will be the favourites of the group while the second place is open for the other three teams.”
The qualifiers will kickoff in May, 2022. Group winners and runner up in each group will advance to the tournament proper to be hosted in Ivory Coast between June and July 2023.
Senegal are the defending Champions. The Teranga Lions defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt to lift the tournament for the first time.
