Former Nigeria national basketball team assistant coach Mohammed Abdulrahman has cautioned the Nigeria Basketball Federation on overreliance on foreign-based basketball players especially NBA stars stressing that the effects will be counterproductive in the long run.
Abdulrahman speaking in a chat with brila.net said the consistent reliance on foreign-based players may live Nigeria in a right corner where most of the NBA players may become selective as to what competition to play in and which not to play.
He stressed that while it could be easy to lure such players with the world cup and Olympic tournaments, the qualification for these tournaments may become tougher when the NBA players fail to show up.
