Nigeria’s only surviving team in the Africa Basketball League Civil Defenders have a tough path to navigate in the quarter-final round of the competition, when they go up against defending champions AS Sale, but the débutantes are hopeful they could cause an upset and don’t believe reaching the elite 8 round is an “over achievement”.

In a chat with www.brila.net Defender’s star Guard, Victor Okpe insists they are rather a committed side with room to grow and improve.

‘I don’t believe we’ve over achieved, rather we still have a lot to prove. We work hard and every step of the way we set out our goals.

‘If anything I’ll say we’re a work in progress.’
